The average sale price of a home in the 06870 ZIP code, which covers Old Greenwich, increased from about $1.4 million in 2013 to roughly $2.1 million in 2014, a surge of 50.6 percent.

Work Begins on Rail Bridge Replacements in Old Greenwich

A joint project between Connecticut DOT and Metro North has commenced at the Old Greenwich railroad station and it will effect parking in the area. "We've added more daily fee spaces to make up for the spaces that we have lost," said Rita Azrelyant, the Parking Services Director in Greenwich.

Rikers inmate busted for Greenwich theft

A Rikers Island inmate behind bars for burglaries and a violent assault is believed to also be behind the theft of nearly $30,000 in jewelry and electronics from an Old Greenwich condominium in 2011. Israel Bracero, 31, originally of Bridgeport, was extradited to Connecticut from the New York correctional system Thursday and was arraigned in state Superior Court in Stamford on first-degree larceny, third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal mischief charges.

Hundreds Attend Golf Tournament, Dinner Benefit for Ex-Cos Cobber Marc Gangi

More than 175 people attended Friday's benefit for Cos Cob native and 1980 Greenwich High School graduate Marc Gangi and his family. 14-Year-Old Greenwich Girl Charged With Assaulting Detectives

A 14-year-old girl turned into a terror for a pair of Greenwich detectives, who were scratched and spit at by the out-of-control teen when they went to pick her up on a Stamford juvenile court warrant Wednesday morning, Stamford police said. The two female detectives learned the girl was at a residence on Custer Street in Stamford and went there on a "take into custody order" shortly before 10 a.m. However, the teen had different ideas and began acting aggressively, spitting, flailing her arms and striking the detectives, police said.

Janet Gold of Old Greenwich, a retired American Airlines flight attendant, was at the Connecticut 9/11 Memorial at Sherwood Island State Park today.
