Real estate in Old Greenwich had quite a year in 2014, with home prices soaring by about 50 percent when compared to 2013, according to an analysis of real estate transactions on file at the Town Assessor's office. The average sale price of a home in the 06870 ZIP code, which covers Old Greenwich, increased from about $1.4 million in 2013 to roughly $2.1 million in 2014, a surge of 50.6 percent.

Work Begins on Rail Bridge Replacements in Old Greenwich

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation has begun work on a $14.8 million project to replace two Metro-North Railroad bridges in Old Greenwich. The Sound Beach Avenue bridge and the bridge over Tomac Avenue near the Innis Arden Golf Club.

A joint project between Connecticut DOT and Metro North has commenced at the Old Greenwich railroad station and it will effect parking in the area. "We've added more daily fee spaces to make up for the spaces that we have lost," said Rita Azrelyant, the Parking Services Director in Greenwich.

Former spymaster Jack Devine condemned the abusive treatment of detainees revealed in a new Senate report during a speech Friday morning in Old Greenwich.
